I am an Associate Professor at Queen's University Belfast, UK in the EEECS School affiliated with the Centre for Data Sciences and Scalable Computing, and an adjunct faculty member at Dept. of CSE, IIT Madras. I am a member of the Board of Directors of PAMA, a Kerala-based trans-disciplinary research institute. Prior to my career as an academic, I was a Researcher in the Information Management Department at IBM Research - India at Bangalore, Karnataka, India. I completed my Ph.D in Computer Science and Engineering at the Department of CSE at Indian Institute of Technology Madras, Chennai, India. My advisors were Prof. Deepak Khemani and Dr. Sutanu Chakraborti. Prior to this, I completed my M.Tech and B.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering from IIT Madras and Model Engineering College respectively. I am currently a Senior Member of IEEE and ACM, a Fellow of the UK Higher Education Academy and a Young Associate of the Indian National Academy of Engineering.


My current research interests lie in the space of fairness in machine learning, with a focus on exploratory and unsupervised learning. Previously, some of the major themes that I have worked on include Fake News Detection (ongoing), Similarity Search in Databases , Mining of Textual Problem Solution Repositories , Retrieval methods for semi-structured data sources and Unsupervised Learning Methods .
